Description
The Creative Communities Initiative provides multi-year support for community-driven, arts-based projects through Pennsylvania Creative Industries, powered by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. It supports creative placemaking and placekeeping: integrating art, local creative assets, community culture and identity, and design to transform community spaces into vibrant, inclusive, accessible places. Funded projects are intended to demonstrate positive community impact through greater connectedness, livability, and community and economic development.
The initiative emphasizes deep resident participation, distinctive local identities, and communities that have experienced underinvestment. Its goals include supporting grassroots leaders, advancing revitalization and resilience, and building authentic partnerships among local government, organizations, artists, and culture bearers. Projects should leverage community assets and invest in artists, creative small businesses, and cultural initiatives.
