Description
The Creative Places Accelerator is a year-long Iowa Arts and Culture program that brings together cross-sector community teams from small to midsize Iowa communities. Teams develop arts-based projects focused on creative placemaking or placekeeping, with demonstrated positive impacts on their communities. The program places arts, culture, and heritage at the center of community and economic development efforts.
The accelerator combines training, networking, technical assistance, and grant opportunities rather than providing funding alone. Professional development includes two in-person workshops, community engagement and planning, and project-development support. The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) administers the program, supported by an Iowa Legislature appropriation and a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
