Description
The Creche Childhood Education Fund, administered by the Omaha Community Foundation, supports educational programming and projects for children in the Omaha metropolitan area. It focuses on organizations providing childhood educational services to underserved children up to age 12. Funding supports program and project work rather than operating expenses.
The fund carries forward the mission of the Creche Home for Children, founded in 1887 as Nebraska’s oldest nonprofit organization. During its 127-year history, Creche operated as a lay nursery, kindergarten, custodial care facility, and childcare center. When the organization closed in 2014, its endowment was donated to the Omaha Community Foundation to continue its mission of serving children in the Omaha metro area in perpetuity.
