Description
The CSL Florey Medal and CSL Florey Next Generation Award celebrate scientific and intellectual excellence in Australia’s health sciences. Established in 1998, the Florey Medal honours an Australian researcher for significant lifetime achievements in biomedical science or advances in human health. It is awarded every two years and bears the likeness of Sir Howard Florey, the Australian Nobel laureate who developed penicillin.
Since 2014, the Australian Institute of Policy and Science (AIPS) and CSL have also conferred an award for a current PhD candidate. The Next Generation Award recognises capability, creativity and potential in biomedical sciences or health and medical research, complementing the Medal’s recognition of lasting contributions.
