Description
The South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC) supports creative placemaking endeavors led by current South Carolina Cultural Districts. Funding can support festivals, performances, workshops, public art, and other activities that expand and integrate work outlined in a district’s approved strategic plan. Programming must take place within the district’s approved boundaries.
Projects should intentionally integrate arts, culture, or design, involve artists, designers, or culture bearers, include non-arts partnerships, and engage the public. Review priorities include meaningful community participation, capable project personnel, achievable goals, and clear connections to district strategic priorities. The program also emphasizes evaluation of outcomes and public engagement, communications that reach diverse audiences, and budgets and support materials demonstrating the capacity to complete the project.
