Description
The Cultural Expression program is a pilot initiative from the Minnesota State Arts Board designed to support projects that share, explore, pass on, express, or celebrate the culture of a community through the arts. The program recognizes cultural communities defined by shared characteristics such as ethnicity, tribal affiliation, language, region, or other significant bonds, and seeks to honor their unique beliefs, customs, and traditions. Projects may focus on preserving traditional art forms or exploring contemporary art rooted in cultural traditions. Eligible activities include learning or practicing traditional cultural art forms, presenting cultural festivals or performances, exhibitions, apprenticeships with master artists or culture bearers, and documentation for cultural preservation. The program aims to foster authentic cultural expression and deepen the understanding and celebration of Minnesota’s diverse cultures.
