    Description

CURE Epilepsy funds investigator-initiated research aimed at disease-modifying breakthroughs and cures for epilepsy. Its Board of Directors, Scientific Advisory Council, and Research Team set the research vision, with annual priorities guided by promising trends and breakthrough potential. The program emphasizes innovative, risky, paradigm-shifting research rather than incremental advances.

The Taking Flight Award helps early-career investigators establish an independent research focus and generate data for future NIH or similar funding applications. It supports basic or clinical studies, but not clinical trials, and favors collaboration and multidisciplinary approaches. The Rare Epilepsy Partnership Award supports tools, techniques, model systems, and data collection platforms that accelerate rare-epilepsy research. These awards are co-funded with advocacy groups and must address the specific rare epilepsies represented by participating partners.
