Description
The Curran Fellowships are annual travel and research awards administered by the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP). Funded through the generosity and bequest of Eileen Curran, a pioneer of Victorian periodicals research, they support scholars investigating British magazines, newspapers, and serial publications of the long nineteenth century, approximately 1780–1914.
The program welcomes a wide range of disciplinary perspectives and supports engagement with primary sources in print, manuscript, or digital facsimile. Research may address any aspect of the periodical press within Britain or in countries inside and outside the Empire where British publications were bought, sold, and read. The central goal is to advance understanding of the publications themselves, their place in the literary marketplace, and the people who produced, distributed, and read them.
