The Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research provides Outreach Grants for educational activities and community engagement involving any aspect of living or fossil foraminifera or other protists. Projects may address organisms such as diatoms, coccolithophorids, dinoflagellates, acritarchs, and radiolaria, and may serve either formal or informal educational settings.
Potential projects include developing educational materials for classrooms, creating websites or other online content, and producing museum displays. These examples are not exhaustive: the program supports other outreach activities within its focus on education and community engagement. The Foundation’s Board of Directors determines awards. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, with a particular invitation to people from groups underrepresented in science.
