The Johanna M. Resig Foraminiferal Research Fellowship recognizes and advances the careers of outstanding doctoral candidates committed to foraminiferal research. Administered by the Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research, it was established through a gift from the estate of Johanna M. Resig, a lifelong specialist on Foraminifera and former editor of the Journal of Foraminiferal Research.
The fellowship provides major support for the final one to two years of graduate research, helping candidates bring their dissertations to completion. It prioritizes excellent research involving Foraminifera, rather than studies whose main focus is geochemistry. Supported work has explored biodiversity, population genetics, life history, species emergence, benthic and planktonic communities, and responses to climatic and environmental change.
