Description
This fellowship, co-sponsored by the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) and the Eighteenth-Century Scottish Studies Society (ECSSS), supports postdoctoral scholars conducting research on eighteenth-century Scotland. The program is hosted at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh, offering scholars the opportunity to engage with a vibrant academic community and access extensive archives and resources. Projects are especially encouraged that address Scotland’s role in the British Empire, its colonial legacy, the involvement of Scottish institutions in the slave trade, histories of people of colour in Scotland, and related themes.
Fellows are expected to be in residence in Edinburgh for the duration of their fellowship (except by special arrangement), participate in Institute activities, and present at least one seminar on their research.
