Description
The American Physiological Society (APS) recognizes early-career members who have made outstanding contributions to the physiology community through leadership and professional service. Established by the APS Trainee Advisory Committee in 2008, the award honors Dale J. Benos’ commitment to these activities. It recognizes service advancing the broader goals of physiology rather than supporting a specific research project.
Contributions considered include service to scientific organizations, undergraduate and graduate education, public policy advocacy, and community outreach. Educational programs promoting diverse groups in physiology, involvement in postdoctoral or graduate student associations, and service to a department, program, or institution are also appropriate for consideration.
