Description
The Danielle Peress, MD Memorial Fund is administered by the Foundation for SMFM to support maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) fellows conducting clinical or translational research during fellowship. Established in 2018, it honors Dani Peress, who died during her second year of MFM fellowship after a battle with lung cancer. The fund fulfills her wish to help future fellows pursue research and advance the field.
Supported projects span pregnancy-related clinical testing, biological mechanisms, and care delivery. Past recipients have investigated preeclampsia testing, prenatal low-dose aspirin, spontaneous preterm birth markers, maternal obesity, postpartum glucose tolerance testing, and patient experiences with continuous glucose monitoring. Other projects address obstetric sepsis care, financial toxicity in pregnancy, postpartum visit attendance, and bilingual maternal emergency preparedness education.
