--- ## Description The David Center for the American Revolution at the American Philosophical Society's Library & Museum in Philadelphia offers short-term resident research fellowships for scholars working on topics related to the American Revolution and the Founding Era. These fellowships provide access to integrated collections from both the David Library and the APS, including extensive manuscripts, microfilm, and print materials such as the Sol Feinstone Collection, Benjamin Franklin Papers, and Thomas Paine Collection. Awards are considered taxable income, but the Society does not report payments to the IRS. --- ## Eligibility - Open to scholars in all fields with a demonstrated need to use the APS collections for their project. - Eligible applicants include: - Holders of a Ph.D. or equivalent. - Ph.D. candidates who have completed their preliminary exams and are working on dissertation research. - Degreed independent scholars (without current academic affiliation). - Both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals. - Preference may be given to candidates living 75 or more miles from Philadelphia. --- ## Application Process Applicants must submit: - A cover letter. - Curriculum vitae. - A two-page (double-spaced) research proposal describing the project and specifying which APS collections will be used. - Two confidential letters of reference.
