Description
The South Dakota State Historical Society’s State Historic Preservation Office administers this competitive grant program using a portion of gaming revenue generated in Deadwood. It extends preservation funding to projects throughout South Dakota that retain, restore, or rehabilitate historic buildings, structures, and archaeological sites for residential, commercial, or public purposes.
Projects may involve rehabilitation, restoration or stabilization, architectural designs, feasibility studies or preservation plans, or property acquisition. The program aims to preserve historically significant features while making continued use of a property possible. Funded projects should demonstrate substantial public historic preservation benefits.
