Description
Gateway for Cancer Research launched the Decentralized Clinical Trial Initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic to support site-less, technology-informed oncology trials that bring investigational treatment directly to patients, ideally at home. The initiative focuses on treatment-based studies with compelling primary and secondary endpoints and rigorous collection, management, and analysis of trial data.
Trials may use telemedicine, wearables, remote monitoring, medical-record review, or e-consent. They may incorporate mobile clinician management and use clinical resources convenient to patients for procedures that cannot practicably be performed in a decentralized setting, such as imaging or complex infusion. Gateway encourages collaboration within and between institutions, including with commercial partners.
