Description
The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) administers the Delta Levees Maintenance Subventions Program for the Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB). It provides technical and financial assistance to local agencies maintaining and rehabilitating nonproject and eligible project levees in the Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta. The work is intended to reduce flood risk while helping preserve the Delta’s agriculture, recreation, fisheries, and wildlife.
Applicants submit plans for fiscal-year work. DWR reviews applications and recommends funding; the CVFPB approves applications and enters into agreements to reimburse eligible costs. Program priorities reflect the Delta Plan and include maintenance, rehabilitation, and work that protects or improves habitat.
