Description
The Denton A. Cooley Fellowship is part of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Foundation’s Honoring Our Mentors Fellowship Program. It provides a four-week educational observership at Texas Heart Institute and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center for North American cardiothoracic surgeons in the final year of residency or shortly after completing training.
The fellowship focuses on cardiac surgery education, with opportunities in cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac transplantation, and general thoracic surgery. Applicants are asked to connect their planned learning experience with prior surgical preparation and professional goals, and explain how the skills learned will be used at their home institution. Recipients are also strongly encouraged to attend the AATS Annual Meeting.
