Description
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Planning Grant Program helps eligible Idaho drinking water and wastewater systems evaluate deficiencies and identify necessary improvements. Funding supports facility plans, engineering reports, and environmental reviews that identify the most cost-effective, environmentally sound approach to upgrading or expanding a system to achieve and maintain compliance with state and federal standards.
Planning work examines existing facilities, develops and screens alternatives, recommends an approach, and evaluates potential environmental impacts. DEQ ranks proposed projects based on public health and environmental risks, long-term system viability, and regulatory compliance. Grants are offered to the highest-ranked projects, with the number of awards limited by available funding.
