Description
The Dermatology Foundation’s Dermatopathology Research Career Development Award supports future intellectual leaders committed to advancing dermatopathology and dermatology through research and/or education. Part of the Foundation’s Research Award Program, it provides salary support for junior faculty developing academic careers in skin research. Strong institutional commitment and experienced mentorship are central to the award.
Supported work includes melanoma biomarkers and treatment response, inflammatory and infectious skin disease, and cellular and molecular determinants of squamous cell carcinoma in situ. Featured recipient Paul Haun’s research examines transcriptome signatures and biomarkers in mycosis fungoides across clinicopathologic stages, seeking to improve diagnosis and treatment. Other recipient projects have investigated oncogenic NRAS, antigen presentation and treatment failure, melanoma epigenetics, and artificial intelligence for melanoma prognosis.
