Description
This Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action funds projects to develop new or existing small molecule antiviral therapeutics for specific pathogens with epidemic potential. The call aims to diversify and accelerate the global portfolio of antiviral options, addressing gaps in pandemic preparedness and strengthening the EU’s leadership in this area.
Projects should target one of the following viruses or groups: Junin/Lassa mammarenavirus, tick-borne encephalitis/Japanese encephalitis virus, Andes/Hantaan/Sin Nombre virus, Hendra virus, Enterovirus D68, or Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus. Antibodies and antibody-derived proteins are excluded.
Funded activities may span candidate discovery, optimization, in-vitro and in-vivo characterization, GMP production, and first-in-human clinical safety studies. Proposals must demonstrate a clear regulatory pathway and are encouraged to collaborate with regulatory bodies, leverage EU research infrastructures, and synergize with related EU projects.
