Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education offers a four-year Diagnostic Radiology Residency in Rochester, Minnesota, for physicians pursuing careers in academic radiology or private practice with an interest in education and research. Training integrates clinical practice, research, and education to develop competence in autonomous diagnostic imaging practice and compassionate, multidisciplinary patient care.
Residents participate in examinations, interpretations, and interventional procedures across every diagnostic radiology subspecialty. The department has performed more than one million examinations annually since 2004 and includes 180 staff radiologists. Training combines hands-on procedural experience, graduated autonomy, one-on-one faculty instruction, and formal teaching. Residents also have access to research mentorship, advanced imaging technology, and support for physical and mental wellness and work/life balance.
