Description
The Washington State Department of Ecology’s Diesel Reduction Grants aim to cut greenhouse gas emissions and protect people from toxic diesel exhaust. Electrifying school buses is a primary purpose of the broader program, which also supports reducing idling and replacing other diesel-powered equipment.
The current Washington State Diesel Reduction Combined Funding Program competitively funds public and private fleets in Washington to transition eligible medium- and heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment to zero emissions. Its two opportunities—the Air Quality Diesel Reduction grant (AQDR-2027) and the Volkswagen settlement ports and wheels grant (AQVWPW-2027)—cover different vehicles and equipment. Projects may include corresponding charging infrastructure.
