Description
The Directors’ Scholarship is offered by Rare Book School (RBS), based at the University of Virginia, to support first-time students whose work centers on the book, its materials, and history. Approximately 20 students each year receive full tuition for an RBS course. The scholarship supports participation in the school’s educational program rather than a separate research project.
RBS provides continuing education in the history of written, printed, and digital materials, bringing students together with scholars and professionals in bibliographical and book-historical fields. Scholarship-supported study may take place through in-person or online courses. Awards function as tuition credit for RBS’s own offerings, not as cash awards or support transferable to other rare book schools.
