The Disability Rights and Inclusion (DRI) Coalition Grant is designed to empower NEA local and state affiliates to advocate for and support educators and students with disabilities. This program funds initiatives that build member advocacy, foster alliance-building, and drive action-oriented programs such as disability justice learning series, member mobilization campaigns, organizing for improved workload protections, and special education teacher recruitment and retention efforts. Grantees are expected to identify challenges facing the disability community in education and develop actionable plans, often in partnership with disability rights and inclusion experts, to address these issues and promote long-term change.
