Description
The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) administers Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The program addresses unmet recovery needs following the 2024 severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding declared under DR-4807, focusing on the most impacted and distressed (MID) areas.
The Local Infrastructure Recovery and Resiliency Program supports damaged infrastructure and public facilities, alongside improvements that reduce future disaster risks. Eligible work includes roads, bridges, stormwater, water and wastewater systems, and hardening critical facilities. The Local Planning Program supports disaster response, evacuation, emergency operations, continuity, communications, mapping, and modeling. Planning investments help communities incorporate lessons from the disaster and prepare for future storms and flooding.
