Description
The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) administers $15,375,000 in Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery funding allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development after the severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding of 2024 (DR-4807). Its approved Action Plan directs funding toward remaining recovery needs in the HUD-designated most impacted and distressed areas of Union County.
Two local programs offer funding. The Local Infrastructure Recovery and Resiliency Program supports public infrastructure and facilities that restore disaster damage or reduce future risks. The Local Planning Program supports disaster response and mitigation plans that improve preparedness and guide long-term resilience.
