Description
The British Heart Foundation’s Discovery Research Future Leaders Fellowship provides long-term support for high-potential scientists progressing toward independence and leadership of their own research projects and teams. It funds outstanding, hypothesis-testing research with the potential to ultimately improve outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
The scheme welcomes non-clinician scientists across disciplines, including bench-based discovery science, epidemiology, data science, genetics, engineering and behavioural science. Applicants may have cardiovascular research backgrounds or be returning from industry or a career break; international applicants are also welcome. Alongside research costs, the fellowship supports professional development, scientific guidance from academic advisors and independent career advice from mentors. Projects should demonstrate ambition, address major unmet needs and offer potential for transformative cardiovascular impact while remaining feasible.
