Description
The British Heart Foundation’s Discovery Research Senior Fellowship supports leaders in cardiovascular research as they progress towards leading larger-scale research programme grants and securing professorship funding. It funds outstanding, hypothesis-testing research with the potential to ultimately improve outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
The scheme spans non-clinician cardiovascular research, including bench-based discovery science, epidemiology, data science, genetics, engineering and behavioural science. Alongside project support, it provides resources for professional development, scientific meetings and independent mentoring. Proposals should demonstrate ambition, address major unmet needs and show potential for transformative impact, while remaining feasible through clear objectives, a structured workplan and contingency planning.
