    Description

    The Distinguished Research Chairs at Carleton University, offered through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, provide an opportunity for outstanding American scholars and experienced professionals to spend an academic year (8 months) as visiting research scholars in Ottawa, Ontario. The program supports research, teaching, curriculum development, and professional or artistic projects across a wide range of disciplines, including arts and social sciences, fintech or accounting, and environmental science.

    Scholars may advise or mentor students, assist in curriculum or program development, conduct independent or institution-designated research, teach undergraduate or graduate courses, and engage with the host community. The program aims to foster academic excellence, cross-border collaboration, and cultural exchange, strengthening U.S.-Canada academic relationships.

    There are three main chairs available:

    • Arts and Social Sciences (open to any relevant research topic within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences)
    • Fintech or Accounting (with specializations in digital finance, fintech governance, sustainability reporting, and related areas)
    • Environmental Science (spanning natural and social sciences, conservation, sustainability, environmental health, and more)
