Description
This Fulbright Distinguished Scholar award combines research and teaching at the University of Southern Denmark’s Center for American Studies in Odense. Co-funded by SDU and Fulbright Denmark, it supports work in American Studies, American history, and American literature. The center studies U.S. cultures, politics, literatures, and traditions, and the visiting scholar helps broaden its coverage and engagement with contemporary developments.
During the eight-month exchange, the scholar pursues research of their choosing and contributes the equivalent of an MA course or seminar each semester to permanent faculty members’ courses. Teaching usually involves three to four meeting hours weekly, without responsibility for a full course’s examinations. At least one public lecture per semester is expected. Activities may also include graduate advising, curriculum discussions, interdisciplinary projects, conferences, and seminars, supporting Fulbright’s goals of international understanding and cooperation.
