Description
This Fulbright Distinguished Scholar award supports one scholar at the Institute of Modern Languages and Literatures at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Poland. The scholar conducts research of their choosing and teaches one regular undergraduate or graduate course per semester in the Department of British and American Studies or another Institute unit. Supported disciplines are American studies, film/cinema studies, American history, linguistics, American and non-U.S. literature, and teaching English as a foreign language.
The award combines scholarly work with student advising and mentoring. The scholar is also encouraged to give talks across UMCS humanities and social sciences units. Through teaching, research, and engagement with the host community, the program seeks to strengthen relationships between people in the United States and Poland and promote international understanding and cooperation.
