Description
The Computing Research Association (CRA) presents this award, usually annually, to a person, persons, or organization for outstanding service to the computing research community. It recognizes contributions in government affairs, professional societies, publications or conferences, and leadership that have a major impact on computing research. The award honors service rather than a proposed research project or the nominee’s research accomplishments.
The award emphasizes the longevity, effectiveness, breadth, and community-wide scope of service. Recognized contributions have included shaping national research policy, building research programs and cyberinfrastructure, strengthening professional publications, and making computing research communities more inclusive and supportive. Government service on behalf of computing research and educating graduate students for research careers are examples of service considered.
