Description
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Art, Science & Technology (CAST) offers Distinguished Visiting Artist appointments to deepen existing artistic collaborations with MIT faculty, departments, labs, and centers. The residency gives artists sustained time for in-depth research and development and for shaping substantial creative projects with MIT faculty, students, and researchers.
CAST treats art, science, and technology as interrelated modes of exploration, knowledge, and discovery. It supports exploratory work, including projects that may be difficult to fund through traditional sources, and encourages proposals addressing racial and social justice or amplifying the artistic work and voices of Black, Indigenous, and people of color. The appointments encompass art, architecture, design, and the performing arts through two named programs.
