Administered by the American Psychological Foundation (APF) and sponsored by APF and APA’s Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy (Division 29), this award recognizes Society members who demonstrate outstanding promise early in their psychotherapy careers. It honors accomplishments in psychotherapy theory, practice, research, or training, supporting the Society’s mission through recognition of contributions to the field rather than funding a specified research project or prescribed area of investigation.
The award was established as the Jack D. Krasner Memorial Award and first bestowed in 1981. In 2007, Division 29 raised $50,000 in donations to fund its administration through APF, continuing its longstanding recognition of early career achievement.
