Description
The Division II Opportunity Grants program, offered by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), is designed to support NCAA Division II member institutions and conferences in their efforts to increase diversity in athletics administration and coaching. The program includes three distinct grant types:
- Internship Grant: One-year funding for a full-time, entry-level position in athletics administration to foster access and professional growth for individuals from underrepresented groups.
- Strategic Alliance Matching Grant: Three-year, diminishing match grant to fund a new or enhanced mid- to senior-level administrative position, with a commitment to continue the role beyond the grant period.
- Coaching Enhancement Grant: Three-year funding to establish a new full-time assistant coach position, aimed at increasing access and long-term success for underrepresented groups in coaching.
The grants are specifically targeted to support veterans, first-generation college students, and other historically underrepresented populations within collegiate athletics.
