    Description

Established in 2024, the Doctoral Dissertation Stipend is an annual program of the Catholic Biblical Association of America (CBA) supporting dissertation writing in biblical or related studies. It serves candidates pursuing Ph.D., Th.D., or S.T.D. degrees who have reached the dissertation-writing stage, rather than those completing coursework or preparing for comprehensive examinations.

The CBA Committee on Emerging Scholars Support assesses applications on merit, normally giving preference to applicants who have not received a CBA grant in the recent past. The program provides up to five stipends each year to support this phase of doctoral research. Recipients must report on their work to the CBA Executive Board through the CBA Office at the conclusion of the award period.
