Description
The Doctoral Scholarships in Ancient History support international doctoral researchers working on dissertations at the Commission for Ancient History and Epigraphy in Munich. The Commission is part of the German Archaeological Institute and runs the programme with support from the Gerda Henkel Foundation and additional financial support from the Elise und Annemarie Jacobi-Stiftung.
The programme combines support for young academics with international scholarly collaboration. The Commission’s research encompasses Greek and Latin epigraphy, numismatics, papyrology, and historical topography. Its specialist library covers the entire field of Ancient History, providing a dedicated setting for dissertation research. Scholarships have been awarded four times a year since 2005.
