The Research Society on Alcohol (RSA) Doctoral Student Small Grants Program supports doctoral students carrying out well-planned alcohol research projects over one year. The program advances RSA’s mission to foster communication and career development among alcohol researchers, support the next generation of researchers, and disseminate scientific knowledge regarding alcohol use.
The review committee seeks to balance support for pre-clinical and clinical/psychosocial studies. Previously funded projects span alcohol craving and subjective responses, alcohol-related liver disease, adolescent recovery, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, and neural mechanisms of alcohol intake and reward. Other awards have supported research on sociocultural influences on drinking, family functioning, stress, and simultaneous alcohol and cannabis use.
