Description
The Donald Peterson Student Travel Award supports students and recent graduates from graduate archival education degree programs within North America who attend the Society of American Archivists’ Annual Meeting. Sponsored by the SAA Foundation, the award aims to encourage greater participation in the Society’s activities by connecting meeting attendance with research presentations or active involvement in an SAA-sponsored committee or section.
Established in 2005 and first awarded in 2006, the award honors Donald Peterson (1908–1999), a New York lawyer and philatelist whose interest in world history and preservation developed through stamp collecting. The Travel Awards and Student Scholarships Subcommittee of the SAA Awards Committee selects recipients.
