The Indiana Academy of Science’s Dr. Delores G. Brown Grant supports innovative, evidence-informed projects that broaden participation in the scientific community and expand opportunities for scientists from all backgrounds. Administered by the IAS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the program advances a scientific community where varied perspectives are valued, individuals experience belonging and respect, and barriers to participation are identified and reduced.
Supported work may include climate or needs assessments, inclusive practices or programs, professional-development opportunities, student participation, accessible scientific engagement, and other initiatives aligned with these goals. With limited funding available, the Academy encourages novel projects with broad or transferable impact. The program also reflects IAS’s commitment to sharing ideas across disciplines, collaborative and interdisciplinary research, and science education.
