The Dr. Scholl Foundation is a private, independent grantmaking foundation established in 1947 by William M. Scholl, M.D., founder of the Scholl foot care company. It considers grants in education, social service, healthcare, civic and cultural activities, and environmental areas. These interests are deliberately broad and do not exclude other worthwhile projects.
The Foundation makes most grants in the United States, including outside Illinois. It also considers organizations abroad where a board member has direct knowledge of the applicant. Funding is administered through one annual grant cycle, beginning with a Letter of Inquiry and followed by an invited full application. Applicants are asked to request support for the program they believe has the greatest need.
