Description
The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources offers drinking water project funding through grants and low-interest loans awarded by the Board of Water and Natural Resources. Funding comes from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) and the Consolidated Water Facilities Construction Program. Applicants should expect some funding as an SRF loan and must meet its requirements unless they qualify to use the Small Water Facilities application.
Projects can improve water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution; install or rehabilitate wells to meet Safe Drinking Water Act requirements other than the Total Coliform Rule; correct compliance problems or significant system deficiencies; or conduct pilot studies for equipment and new systems. Funding may also support economic development, service expansion, regionalization, and consolidation.
