Description
The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) is co-administered by the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA). It provides low-cost financial assistance to public water systems in New Mexico for repairs and replacements that support compliance with drinking water regulations and protect water quality and public health.
The program finances water sources, treatment, transmission and distribution, storage, and control systems. It also supports projects that interconnect or regionalize water systems, improve energy efficiency, or conserve water. Financing can cover construction and associated planning, design, pre-project costs, and necessary land acquisition. Projects are ranked according to greatest need, their potential to improve water quality, and other factors. DWSRF also provides a pathway to Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for specific drinking water projects.
