Description
The Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund is jointly administered by the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) and the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED). This federal-state program provides low-cost financing to repair, replace, and construct drinking water facilities throughout New Mexico. Its priorities are protecting public health, achieving compliance with drinking water standards, and maintaining affordable access to drinking water.
Supported work includes water sources, treatment, transmission and distribution lines, storage, SCADA systems, and interconnections or regionalization. Financing can also cover planning, design, associated pre-project costs, and land needed for project components. Separate Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding supports lead service line replacement and emerging contaminants projects. NMED provides technical, managerial, and financial assistance to help water systems qualify for financing.
