    Description

Dysphonia International provides research seed grants to advance understanding of spasmodic dysphonia and related voice disorders, including vocal tremor, muscle tension dysphonia, and vocal cord paralysis or paresis. The program supports hypothesis-driven studies exploring new approaches to these conditions, with priorities spanning causes, novel treatments, risk factors, biomarkers, genetics, and diagnostic tools.

The grants help investigators collect preliminary data that can strengthen applications for larger funding opportunities, including National Institutes of Health awards. Supported work includes neuromodulation and botulinum toxin treatments, objective measures of disorder severity and treatment response, and investigations of brain activity and sensory feedback during speech. The organization’s Scientific Advisory Board guides research directions, reviews proposals, and fosters collaboration.
