--- ## Description The EACVI Research Grants, offered by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), are designed to foster high-quality research and international collaboration in the field of non-invasive cardiovascular imaging. These grants enable early-career researchers (under 40) to gain research experience by spending one year at a prominent academic centre in an ESC Member or Affiliated Member country, other than their own. The programme aims to promote professional development, mobility, and cultural exchange within the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) network. --- ## Due Dates - September 30, 2026: Full application submission deadline (annual closing date) --- ## Funding Amount - Each grant provides €30,000 to cover living expenses for a continuous 12-month research period. - The funding is awarded as a lump sum for one year; extensions are possible but must be funded from other sources (not ESC/EACVI). - No additional support is provided for relocation, visa, or travel expenses. --- ## Eligibility Applicants must meet **all** the following criteria: - **Age:** Under 40 years old on the application deadline. - **Membership:** EACVI Silver member at the time of application. - **Nationality/Residency:** Citizen or resident for tax purposes of an [ESC Member country](https://www.escardio.org/The-ESC/Member-National-Cardiac-Societies) or [ESC Affiliated Member country](https://www.escardio.org/The-ESC/Affiliated-Cardiac-Societies), with at least 3 years of ordinary residence immediately before applying. - **Career Stage:** Medical graduates at any stage (before permanent/senior/consultant post) or science graduates up to junior investigator/lecturer/assistant professor level. - **Host Institution:** Must be outside the applicant’s own country and the country of initial medical training (if an ESC Member country), and cannot have hosted a winning candidate in the previous year. - **Project Scope:** Research must focus on non-invasive cardiovascular imaging (echocardiography, CMR, nuclear cardiology, or cardiac CT). - **Other:** Applicants cannot hold overlapping grants from the ESC or its constituent bodies in the same year. Only one candidate per host institution per year may be selected. Special notes: - Final validation is subject to visa approval (if required). - Applicants must be able to communicate in the language required by the host institution. --- ## Application Process - **Submission:** Applications must be submitted exclusively via the ESC online form; email or paper applications are not accepted. - **Timeline:** Application period opens March 31 and closes September 30 each year. - **Documents Required:** - Completed online application form. - Application document (downloaded Word file) split into: - Part A: Applicant’s profile & project proposal (completed by applicant). - Part B: Host institution form (completed by host supervisor and returned to applicant). - CV in European format. - Evidence of ethical approval (if project involves human subjects, clinical trials, or radioactive substances). - **Host Institution Agreement:** The host institution must confirm willingness to receive the candidate and provide required facilities. - **Submission Responsibility:** All required documents must be uploaded by the applicant before the deadline; incomplete or late applications are not considered. - **Selection Criteria:** Evaluation is based on the candidate’s CV, project quality, and feasibility.
