Summary: Supports novel clinical, educational and basic science research in minimally invasive interventions, prioritising surgical equity, intraoperative guidance and AI, and sustainability.
Key Information: Applicants must be EAES members currently practising surgery-related endoscopy or laparoscopy.
The European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) Research Grants support novel clinical, educational and basic science research in minimally invasive interventions. The programme aims to build a collaborative scientific culture, combining high-quality projects with opportunities for young clinicians to address population needs. It encourages both established investigators and those new to research, with an emphasis on inclusivity and developing future surgical leaders.
The call prioritises three areas: equity in surgical quality, intraoperative guidance and artificial intelligence, and sustainable surgery. Relevant work includes reducing disparities in surgical outcomes, developing scalable quality improvements, translating surgical data science, surgomics, computer vision and AI decision support into clinical benefit, and reducing surgery’s environmental footprint through resource optimisation, waste reduction and more sustainable operating procedures.
