The Newborn Brain Society Early Career Award supports early-career investigators studying the fetal and neonatal brain. Initiated in 2022 and organized by the Society’s Quality Improvement and Research Committee, the program funds basic science, translational, clinical, and quality improvement projects that advance fetal or neonatal brain care. Applications from individuals belonging to under-represented groups in medicine are strongly encouraged.
Supported work may be a novel study or an independent, clearly defined component of an ongoing project led by the applicant. The award emphasizes investigator-driven research rather than work undertaken solely to complete a mentor’s project. Funding supports direct research costs, including salary and personnel time devoted to the project, while awardees share completed findings through an NBS webinar.
