The Asian Development Bank–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) at the East-West Center supports approved master's degree study at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM), alongside the Center's educational, residential, and leadership development programs. Established in April 1988, it is financed by the Government of Japan through the Asian Development Bank and administered locally by the East-West Center.
The program strengthens human resource capacity in ADB developing member countries through graduate education in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields. Scholars are expected to apply and share their knowledge and skills after returning home, contributing to socioeconomic development. The East-West Center accepts applications every other year; this cycle supports entry in Fall 2027.
