The Catholic Biblical Association of America (CBA) funds this annual visiting fellowship at the École biblique et archéologique française de Jérusalem. Re-established in 2022, it combines research time with participation in an international scholarly community. Visiting professors teach one doctoral/licentiate-level course in English, deliver a public lecture on their research, and interact with the École’s faculty.
The fellowship provides access to the École’s library and research facilities, alongside opportunities for archaeological and topographical excursions to places such as Galilee, Jordan, and the Negev. Teaching proposals should connect the scholar’s research with the École’s curricular profile, while research should enrich contemporary biblical scholarship. For 2027–28, teaching interests are open to individual expertise, including biblical studies, history, archaeology, and ancient languages.
